Benefits of Ductless Mini Splits

If you need air conditioning for one area of the house or don’t have a duct system, you don’t have to settle for inefficient window units. Ductless mini split systems are becoming increasingly popular for their flexibility, versatility, and exceptional energy efficiency. There are many reasons to consider a ductless mini split system for your home.

Ductless mini splits are beneficial for:

  • Energy-efficient heating and cooling
  • Air conditioning spaces without a duct system
  • Lower monthly utility bills
  • Flexible for use in different applications
  • Improved control over your indoor environment
  • Better indoor air quality

A ductless system allows you to save space, save energy, and reduce your heating and cooling costs. The typical duct system can result in as much as 30% heat and air conditioning loss through gaps or holes in the ductwork. In addition to reducing efficiency and increasing energy costs, this can reduce your indoor air quality.

Customizing Your Ductless Mini Split System

A ductless mini split system has two main components like a split air conditioning system. There is an outdoor compressor and condenser unit and an indoor air handler. The two components of the system are connected by power lines, refrigerant lines, and a condensate drain that runs through a conduit that is installed through the exterior wall.

The air handlers in ductless systems can be mounted on the ceiling or on top of the wall. Each air handler provides air conditioning or AC and heat to one room or area of the house. You can create a zoned system with Greer ductless mini splits by connecting multiple air handlers to the outdoor unit. This provides the advantage of individual controls for each indoor air handler, so you can set different temperatures in each area of the house.

As with traditional central air conditioning, the system must be properly sized to the space where you need air conditioning and installed in the ideal location for optimal comfort. If the air handler is too large or not placed properly, you may have short cycling, decreased energy efficiency, and difficulty cooling the house.
